I finally got around to putting a plug onto the TIG machine tonight. It's WAY less used than I thought. Total machine time - 1 hour, 12 minutes, and 77 arc strikes.

That's it! That's not even demo mileage on a Miller machine!

Speaking of welding, where did that BrownDog poster go? Did he get his cast off and had to go back to work? :D

That thing will outlive all of us. BUT! Have you welded with it yet? No? Get the hell off the internet and go make things with metal! Go! :D

I struck an arc tonight but the guy I bought it from only included 1 tungsten and it's TRASHED. I'll hit Praxair monday and get an assortment of tungsten electrodes.

I DID use my plasma cutter last night, and my MIG machine this morning. I finished up my oxy-acetylene cart, got the bottles chained in and fired up that torch today too, just to check it. So, in the last 24 hours I've used every torch I own.

I also drove the Clown Shoe, went to a movie, and went to ACL today. It's been a totally satisfying day.

That sounds like an amazing day. I'm missing having access to a welder terribly.

another great day tomorrow. i'll watch the F1 race, then drove out to the Garrison Brothers distillery w/ a buddy from Indy. We'll talk race track nerd stuff, have some booze, then hit a brew pub in Johnson City that makes what is supposed to be a kick ass chicken fried steak.

after i get home i might bust out the grinder and take some sharp edges off my OA cart and maybe fab up a hose hook for it.

I'm sure you know this already, but make sure to have a dedicated grinding wheel just for Tungsten, it really helps with keeping clean points that are not contaminated.

Nice score on the rig, I'm planning on learning TIG myself this school year.

Yep, I am aware of the requirement but don't have one yet.
